Mexico,1531 Juan Diego was walking through Tepaya Hill in Central Mexico he encountered a beautiful woman surrounded by a ball of light as bright as the sun, the lady identified herself as the Virgin Mary, mother of the true god. Mary desired a church be built in her name. She asked Juan Diego to go Tenochtitlan and tell the bishop that he saw and heard her, the bishop requested a sign. Juan Diego returned to her and asked Guadalupe for a sign, she asked him to cut roses and bring them to her. Guadalupe placed them on his tilma and told him to take them to the bishop. Juan Diego went to the bishop and released his tilma and the roses fell to the ground and on his tilma was the image of the Virgin Mary as Juan had described her. On Tuesday, December 12th Everyone in our class made a collage for lady of guadalupe. We drew her image, added lots of beautiful roses and made collages. Amazingly people kept coming into our classroom asking what smelled like roses!
